HONOLULU — A 19-year-old high school student was killed Wednesday night in the crash of her mo-ped in east Honolulu.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports Kristi McQuaid was the fourth person to die in a mo-ped crash on Oahu this year. She was not wearing a helmet

McQuaid was preparing to graduate this summer from Kaiser High School.

Police say she was driving south on Lunalilo Home Road near Kaiser High when her mo-ped hit a curb and struck a light pole.

A woman driver stopped to administer CPR. Emergency responders attempted to revive her for about 30 minutes but she died just after 11 p.m.

McQuaid worked full time in the kitchen at Kona Brewing Co. The restaurant at Koko Marina Center closed Thursday in memory of McQuaid.
